Where do I make or change a material?
Hypershade. Create or edit the material, connect textures, and assign it to an object. Check its rendered appearance in Arnold Render View.
Where do I change image size, samples or file format?
Render Settings. This is where you configure resolution, sampling and file/output settings. Resizing a viewport or a render-view window is not the same as changing output resolution.
Where do I see the render update while I work?
Arnold Render View. Start IPR with the play-style button in its toolbar. Adjust a material, light or camera, then inspect the updated image here. Stop IPR when you no longer need live feedback.
Are Arnold and Arnold Render View the same thing?
No. Arnold is the engine that calculates the image. Arnold Render View is the window used to preview and inspect it. The connection between them means “compute the image, then display it.”
I moved a light. Where should I check the result?
Move the light in the Scene / Viewport, then look at Arnold Render View with IPR running. Keep both visible when possible so you can connect the change you made to its effect on the render.
Where do I check that Arnold is selected?
Open Render Settings and check the renderer selection. Arnold is the renderer used in this course. Render Settings configures it; Arnold Render View is where you inspect the result.
How is IPR different from Render Current Frame?
Use IPR for live feedback while adjusting the scene. Use Render Current Frame for a single completed frame at a checkpoint. The Week 1 guide distinguishes that command from IPR’s continuously updating session. Render Current Frame can open Maya’s separate Render View.
Are Render View and Arnold Render View different windows?
Yes. The Week 1 guide distinguishes Maya’s simpler Render View from Arnold Render View. For this course, use Arnold Render View for interactive preview and inspection. Check which window a tutorial is referring to.
